A Houseless Led & Run Hygiene, Sanitation, & Safety Hub
Promoting Community Dignity, Health, & Connection across the Housing Divide.
Portland, Oregon is facing a public and civic health crisis. Exclusion from hygiene & sanitation services contributes to hygiene-related public health risks, trauma and mental health struggles, vilification, and discrimination. It also leads to legal and extrajudicial punishment of our unsheltered neighbors.
We can mitigate these problems with constructive solutions providing access to water, toilets, waste disposal, and safety-critical for survival and human dignity.
Hygiene4All is a bathroom, washing, basic first aid, bedding & clothing exchange, and trash removal hospitality hub. It is designed, led, and run by members of the houseless community. Attendants are trained in de-escalation, trauma-informed harm reduction, and fostering a culture of respect, acceptance, and welcome of all community members -- black, brown, or white, regardless of housing status, gender and sexual orientation. We will be located on the Central Eastside:
Open 6pm to Midnight six nights a week.
Regardless of the weather.
